The Big Bear Fishing Department is a unique shopping experience. We specialize in trout, bass, pike and all freshwater species. From beginner setups to tournament gear, we are your one stop freshwater shop. Fly Fishing? Big Bear carries a full line of both freshwater and salt water setups. We carry RIO, SA, Lamson, Cheeky, Lamiglass, Fishpond, Cortland, Loon and more! We carry a full line of frozen saltwater baits, surf rods, light inshore tackle for striper, tautogs, fluke, scup, and weakfish! We carry terminal tackle and soft plastics like Sluggo, Stormshad, Gulp and more! All year long, the only state of the art bait tank in RI keeps our shiners, crawfish, and suckers ice cold and healthy! Worms are always available as well
What makes Big Bear special? Our pro staff are some of the most knowledgeable fishermen in New England! Nick Grasso is our fishing department manager and is an expert in both freshwater fly fishing, trout fishing and specializes in inshore saltwater fishing. Nick has over 20 years of experience on Narragansett Bay, catching stripers, tautogs, fluke, bluefish, albies, bonitos, and one of the most talented weakfish experts in RI. Giuseppe Andreoli is our tournament pro. “G” had won tournaments up to and including national tournaments, an expert bass fisherman, G helps keep our store stocked with the large and small mouth gear you need! Capt. Paul Triolo of Northeast Fly Anglers is also often in our shop and a licensed Coast Guard Captain you can charter with. Gear up at the shop and head out with Captain Paul and you can enjoy an afternoon either spin or fly fishing on Narragansett Bay.
Big Bear hosts the most diverse selection of classes, fly tying, fly casting, soft plastic rigging, entomology, introductory classes for all fresh and saltwater species, cub, boy, and girl scout classes and always available are guided on the water education sessions.
Our shop wants to cater to your needs, our friendly staff will get you set up to begin your fishing adventures and are always on hand to give you the best advice and tips for you to catch the BIG ONE!
